In collaboration with the UH Office of Undergraduate Research the two BoBI sponsored undergraduate researchers have been chosen: Ola al-Hatem and Khadeeja Tarique will be performing research in Dr. Gregg Roman’s lab in the Department of Biology and Biochemistry. Besides their research, they will participate in summer activities alongside the SURF students.
Ola al-Hatem was chosen for her proposal “Comparing the rescue of the heterozygotes Dunc-13P84200/+ with the non-ethanol binding Munc13-1 E583A mutation and with the wild type Munc13-1”.
Khadeeja Tarique for her proposal “Imaging ethanol induced changes in presynaptic activity of Drosophila Olfactory Receptor Neurons”.
